As a fashion and society journalist, between 2000 and 2010 Bertrand Maréchal reported on international fashion shows in New York, London, Milan and Paris on behalf of the Swiss daily Le Temps and the French press. This was an advantageous position from which to observe and analyse the profound changes in the role of design and image that were taking place at the turn of the century, at the same time as new marketing practices were emerging in the fashion industry.
